Dinkes Sets Up Health Posts for May Day Events

The Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) provided medical services for thousands of workers commemorating May Day at Monas, Central Jakarta, Friday (1/5).

The number of people treated is quite significant

Jakarta Regional Health Crisis and Emergency Center (PK3D) Head, Sulung Mulia Putra, stated 25 ambulances were deployed, consisting of 15 units from PK3D and 10 from regional public hospitals (RSUD) and community health centers (Puskesmas).

Additionally, 70 medical personnel were stationed on-site, including 10 general practitioners, 50 nurses, and 10 drivers. Sulung noted that as of 9 AM, 63 people had received medical treatment at health posts scattered throughout the Monas area.

"The number of people treated is quite significant. As of 9 AM alone, 63 individuals have already been attended to," he expressed.

In fact, approximately 10 percent of the treated patients were referred to Tarakan RSUD for further medical evaluation. According to him, the majority of patients complained of health issues triggered by extreme hot weather and exhaustion from long-distance travel.

Further, they also reported gastric issues, high blood pressure, heart disease, and other pre-existing conditions.

"Some cases were heat-related, including heatstroke, as well as several heart complaints. So, gastric issues, heart conditions, and heat-related illnesses made up the majority of cases," he explained.

He went on to say that those health posts will remain open until the May Day commemoration concludes this afternoon.

There are totally 26 medical deployed at various strategic points throughout the Monas area. They are joint facilities operated by Jakarta Health Agency, Jakarta Metro Police Medical and Health Agency (Biddokkes), and Jakarta Military Regional Health Command (Kesdam Jaya).

Sulung also urged May Day participants arriving from various regions to monitor their health, given the scorching heat. He further urged participants to consume the food and water provided and to seek shaded areas to avoid heatstroke.

"We are providing comprehensive medical services, ranging from minor ailments to cases requiring hospital referrals," Sulung concluded.
