National Education Day, Community Service Cleans Sakura Beach

A total of 60 participants consisting of students, educators, and Public Infrastructure and Facilities Management (PPSU) personnel from Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, Seribu Utara Islands District, held a clean-up action in the park area and Sakura Beach.

This activity is part of the commemoration of National Education Day 2026 as well as an effort to instill environmental awareness from an early age, especially in coastal areas that are tourist destinations.

Head of Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, Muslim said the activity also involved collaboration of urban village, Education Sub-agency, and local schools.

"We want to instill awareness that maintaining environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility, especially for students," he said, Monday (5/4).

Community service participants conducted a cleanup at the park and along Sakura Beach. They collected approximately five cubic meters of trash.

"Hopefully this awareness of maintaining cleanliness can continue to grow and become a daily habit," he added.

Meanwhile, a student of SMPN 285 Jakarta, Andiansyah (15) said he was happy to be involved in the activity. Besides raising environmental awareness, the activity also strengthened bonds between students and the community.

"It's great to be able to participate in community service with friends and local residents. It's made us more aware of the importance of keeping the beach clean, especially since it's also a tourist destination," he said.
