The East Jakarta Administration has built a boxing facility under the Pasar Rebo Flyover in Ciracas Sub-district to provide teenagers with a positive activity space and help prevent street brawls.
To help prevent youth brawls
Ciracas Sub-district Head Panangaran Ritonga said the facility is equipped with five large punching bags and a security fence about three meters high.
New Sports Facilities in Manggarai to Curb Street Brawls"We have also built an international-standard skate park that residents can use free of charge," he said on Thursday (5/7).
Panangaran said the facilities are part of efforts to prevent conflicts among residents, especially youth brawls.
"The Pasar Rebo Flyover Boxing Facility aims to help prevent youth brawls by giving teenagers a proper place to train and develop their boxing skills," he explained.
He hopes the facility can help young people channel their energy into sports and develop their talents positively.
"Providing spaces for activities and sports is far more effective than simply putting up anti-brawl banners, which are often ignored," he added.
To ensure proper management and scheduling, the Ciracas Sub-district will form a dedicated team involving Susukan Urban Village administration as well as RW and LMK representatives.
"We hope the boxing facility and skate park will not only encourage residents to be more active in sports, but also produce athletes capable of competing at national and international levels," he said.
