SPPG Food Safety is Ensured Through Visits and Sample Testing

The Jakarta Health Agency continues to strengthen supervision and guidance of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) by issuing Hygiene Sanitation Certificates (SLHS). This measure is taken to ensure food safety standards are maintained at SPPGs.

Head of Jakarta Health Agency, Ani Ruspitawati, said the issuance of the SLHS is one of the instruments for guidance and supervision carried out by the party regarding SPPG operations in Jakarta.

"Issuance of SLHS as a tool for carrying out supervision," she said.

According to her, before the SLHS is issued, the Health Agency conducts visits and inspections in accordance with its authority. This oversight process involves a division of authority between the Health Agency and the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

In addition to field inspections, food handlers at the SPPG also receive free training. This training is part of an effort to improve the quality of food processing to ensure compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards.

"We train everyone for free," she added.

She continued that food samples will also undergo bacterial testing before the certificate is issued, to ensure safety for consumption.

Based on the provisions of the National Nutrition Agency, each SPPG is given three months from the start of operations to process the SLHS.

Currently, there are 609 SPPGs in Jakarta. Of these, 167 have obtained a Hygiene and Sanitation Certificate.

"But not everyone has it yet. The requirement is three months after the operation," she stated.
