Jakarta and Jeju Agree on Sister City Cooperation

One of the topics discussed in the tourism sector is the plan to open a direct flight route from Kelantan to Jakarta on June 16.

"Regarding bilateral relations between Jakarta and Kelantan, the upcoming direct flight from Kelantan to Jakarta will undoubtedly become a new destination for both Kelantan residents and Jakarta residents planning to visit Kelantan," said Pramono.

Pramono welcomed the direct flight. Jakarta itself is a potential market, given its population of 42 million. Conversely, Jakarta residents also have a new alternative destination besides Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

"And one of Kelantan's advantages is its health benefits. While Jakarta residents typically travel to Penang for Malaysia, perhaps Kelantan could be a new alternative," he added.

Pramono continued flights from Malaysia to Jakarta are currently increasing significantly. In addition to Jakarta, Malaysians are also taking advantage of their travel to surrounding areas, such as Bandung, due to the ease of transportation.

Jakarta and Kelantan also agreed to collaborate in the cultural sector, particularly regarding ancient Malay manuscripts. This collaboration aims to preserve historical documents for future generations.

Chief Minister of the State of Kelantan, Dato' Panglima Perang Ustaz Dato' Haji Mohd Nassuruddin Bin Haji Daud, stated his visit to Jakarta was to promote Kelantan, both in the tourism, education and cultural sectors

"We came here to promote the country of Kelantan because starting from 16 June, there will be direct flights to Kelantan, Malaysia to Jakarta, Jakarta to Kota Bharu, Kelantan," he stated.

Kelantan is a center of Islamic education with many unique features. Among them is the oldest wooden mosque in Malaysia, over 300 years old, built without using nails.

His visit to Jakarta is to open up various new cooperation opportunities, including in the health sector. Apart from that, Kelantan also offers various natural and culinary tourist destinations, such as nasi kerabu.

"In Malaysia, Kelantan is considered a land of culture, cultural ideals, arts and culture and food heaven. When Malaysians go to Kelantan, they like the cooking and food in this country of Kelantan," he admitted.
