"All activities in Jakarta continue to use the term DKI (Special Capital Region) until the Presidential Decree to relocate the capital city is issued. Therefore, we have been implementing the Constitutional Court's decision," he said, Wednesday (5/13).

Until there is a legal framework in the form of a Presidential Decree regarding the relocation of the capital, he added, Jakarta will remain Indonesia's capital. He himself admitted to understanding this legal regulation.

"Indeed, I fully understand and know that as long as there is no Presidential Decree for the relocation, the capital city will remain in DKI Jakarta," he added.

Pramono also emphasized that there would be no significant changes to the Jakarta Provincial Government's bureaucracy following the Constitutional Court's ruling, as the Jakarta Provincial Government continues to position itself as the center of the national government.

"From the perspective of the DKI Jakarta Government, DKI Jakarta remains the nation's capital," he admitted.

This is also in line with the central government's decision to continue to position Jakarta as the nation's capital until a Presidential Decree is issued regarding its relocation.

For your information, the Constitutional Court (MK) emphasized that Jakarta remains the capital of Indonesia. This was emphasized in Decision Number 71/PUU-XXIV/2026, which rejected in its entirety the judicial review of Law Number 3 of 2022 about the National Capital City (IKN) on Tuesday (5/12).
