Jakarta Admin Pledges Public Security as Top Priority

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has asserted that public safety remains a paramount concern for the Jakarta government.

Security in Jakarta remains a top priority

According to Pramono, the administration continues to coordinate closely with law enforcement agencies to bolster surveillance and combat criminal activities across the city.

"To be frank, security in Jakarta remains a top priority under my administration," he stated during a visit to the Meruya Selatan II Subsidiary Health Center in Kembangan, West Jakarta, Monday (5/18).

One of the key initiatives to enhance monitoring is the integration of digital surveillance systems, or CCTV, citywide in collaboration with the Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief. This integration will encompass cameras owned by the Jakarta government, the Metro Jaya Police, other government agencies, and private high-rise buildings. He hoped that this unified network would significantly improve the oversight and prevention of crime in Jakarta.

"We'll collaborate with the Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief to ensure that CCTV systems across Jakarta—whether owned by the government, the police, other institutions, or buildings with more than four stories—are effectively coordinated," he explained.

Beyond enhancing surveillance, the Jakarta government is also preparing social safety nets to alleviate the community's economic burden. Through these measures, Pramono hopes to drive down the crime rates that have been a source of public concern.

"We have already prepared the necessary social safety nets to be deployed as required," he concluded.
