Jakarta City Council Vice Chairman, Wibi Andrino, appreciated the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Jakarta government and Polda Metro Jaya to optimize the use of CCTV for maintaining public order.
Jakarta has become a new strength
He assessed that the cooperation was a long-awaited step by the public, particularly in efforts to strengthen the security system in the capital city.
“The integration of CCTV services currently scattered across Jakarta has become a new strength, specifically for the safety and comfort of the people of Jakarta,” he expressed, Tuesday (5/19).
Jakarta Unifies CCTV Networks to Bolster Urban SecurityThus far, he stated, the public had often been haunted by concerns regarding street crimes such as armed robbery. Therefore, the collaboration between Jakarta government and Polda Metro Jaya was expected to be a concrete solution for crime prevention.
In addition to the security aspect, he also noted that CCTV integration could help unravel traffic problems, including congestion points or bottlenecks on several road sections.
“With this integration, the hope is that it becomes a solution,” he hoped.
According to him, this cooperation was also a concrete step to optimize the use of existing surveillance cameras, considering that Jakarta's CCTV needs had not yet been fully met.
"This eases the burden on the community from having to provide their own CCTV. What already exists is what should be optimized,” he explained.
Wibi hoped that the CCTV integration could further strengthen the protection of residents from various street crimes, including snatch thefts.
“With these CCTVs, hopefully, the Polda Metro Jaya will be assisted and law enforcement in Jakarta will become even better,” he concluded.
