LRT Extension from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas Named a Top Priority

The Jakarta government is set to give the green light to the LRT extension route connecting Velodrome to Manggarai and through to Dukuh Atas as its top priority.

This decision was finalized by the Governor during a coordination meeting, after weighing in various expert recommendations and the city's budget capacity.

"For LRT, the decision is to extend the line from Manggarai all the way to Dukuh Atas to finally bridge the gap and complete the entire corridor starting from Velodrome," stated Governor Pramono at Jakarta City Hall, Thursday (5/21).

He explained that the Velodrome-Dukuh Atas route will span 14.2 kilometers with a total of 12 stations. Furthermore, this expansion will require an additional capital injection of approximately Rp 2.7 trillion.

Pramono emphasized that extending the route to Dukuh Atas is crucial to ensure the project is carried across the finish line properly and serves its purpose fully.

"Why was the decision made to go from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas? It is to ensure this transit line is fully rounded off and completed thoroughly," he added.

Once this phase is under wraps, the government plans to push forward with routes toward Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Ancol, and eventually stretching to PIK 2 and Soekarno-Hatta Airport. He has instructed his team to fast-track the completion of these plans.

"From Velodrome, JIS, and Ancol, the route will eventually be pushed through to PIK 2 and Soekarno-Hatta. We will finalize those tracks later; currently, the planning has reached Ancol," he noted.

Pramono is confident that once the entire LRT network is integrated with the MRT project from Balaraja to Cikarang, Jakarta’s transportation connectivity will be second to none.
