20 Tons of Waste Hauled from Jalan Stasiun Angke

20 tons of waste was successfully cleared by sanitation workers during a cleanup operation on Jalan Stasiun Angke, RW 04, Jembatan Lima, Tambora, West Jakarta, Thursday (5/21) evening.

The majority of the waste consisted of fruit peels

Jembatan Lima Urban Village Head, Ahmad Ghozali Ardli, stated the cleanup is a follow-up to resident complaints regarding trash piles originating from fruit stalls in the area.

He explained that the accumulation of waste not only created unsanitary conditions but also triggered traffic congestion. Consequently, his side coordinated with the West Jakarta Environmental Sub-agency to deploy a shovel loader and a dump truck for the operation.

"The majority of the waste consisted of fruit peels discarded by vendors," he remarked, Friday (5/22).

His team has held a meeting with representatives of the fruit vendors, reaching an agreement that vendors must sort their waste and secure it in sacks before it is collected by sanitation officers.

"If the waste is not bagged, I have instructed the Babinsa (community officer) to put the trash back into the vendors' stalls. This is a necessary measure, considering that the waste collected yesterday alone reached 20 tons," he concluded.
