A total of 70 personnel from the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency successfully put out a fire that damaged two houses on Jalan Warakas IV, Gang 15, RT 10/13, Warakas Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district.

Quickly extinguished and did not spread further to other buildings

North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Gulkarmat Sub-agency Operations Section Head, Gatot Sulaeman, said the fire report was received at 10:58 PM, Wednesday (5/27).

“To ensure a quick response, we immediately deployed 14 fire trucks and 70 personnel to the location,” he said on Thursday (5/28).

Gatot noted that when firefighters arrived at the location, the flames had already grown large, destroying one house and part of a neighboring building. The fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit from one of the homes.

“The fire was brought under control at 11:22 PM. After the cooling process, the extinguishing operation was fully completed at 12 AM. There were no fatalities or serious injuries in this incident,” he explained.

Gatot urged residents to remain vigilant and routinely check electrical installations in their homes to prevent similar incidents.

“We urge residents to ensure the electrical cables they use meet safety standards and to avoid overloading a single power outlet with multiple plugs,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, a local resident, Sassy Seprianto, said the fire was first noticed after loud noises were heard coming from the roof area of a neighbor’s house.

When he checked, the flames had already grown large, prompting him to immediately contact the fire department.

“The firefighters arrived very quickly. We are very grateful because the fire was quickly extinguished and did not spread further to other buildings,” he added.
