Pramono Requests Regular Cleaning of Trash in Muara Angke

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, asked the Jakarta Environmental Agency to routinely clean up trash on the coast of Muara Angke, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta.

cleaned regularly

According to him, the accumulation of trash in the area is unavoidable. Therefore, his team is focusing on regular and periodic cleaning.

Waste Management on the Muara Angke Coast Accelerated

"I've asked for Muara Angke to be cleaned regularly. Don't let it become like yesterday, when it piled up and became like an island," he said.

Geographically, he explained, Muara Angke is the downstream of 13 rivers in Jakarta. Consequently, this area has long-standing waste sedimentation. However, he confirmed that the piles of trash in the coastal area of Muara Angke have been cleared. The cleanup process took approximately four days.

Previously, the Assistant for Development and Environment of the Regional Secretary of Jakarta Province, Afan Adriansyah Idris, said that the intensive waste cleaning process had been carried out since last Wednesday.

Afan ensured that all the piles of rubbish polluting the coastal environment were completely cleaned on Saturday (6/6) afternoon.

"Overall, this work took place from Wednesday to Saturday afternoon," he said.

To keep the area clean, the Environmental Agency will routinely carry out periodic inspections.

During the process, the Jakarta Provincial Government deployed 100 personnel to clear the piles of trash. The cleanup also utilized several pieces of heavy equipment, including two amphibious excavators and three ships to transport the dredged waste.

However, Afan also acknowledged the challenges involved. One of these is the constant influx of waste.

To anticipate this, the Jakarta Provincial Government has deployed officers in upstream areas to filter the waste.

"We filter through bulkheads and trash filters to prevent the trash from moving to coastal areas," he stated.
