North Jakarta Ramps Up Parking Enforcement in Kelapa Gading

North Jakarta's Transportation Sub-agency launched a crackdown on illegal parking and unauthorized attendants in three areas in Kelapa Gading. This is part of a synchronized operation conducted simultaneously across the city's five municipalities.

Illegal parking issues rank second on the list of public complaints

North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Rudi Saptari Sulesuryana, stated the crackdown focuses on various points that have drawn frequent public complaints due to traffic jams and road obstruction.

Today’s operation concentrated on three specific sites: Jalan Boulevard Raya across from Al-Azhar Kelapa Gading School; Jalan Raya Gading Kirana in Bukit Gading Indah area; and Kali Sunter Inspection road (Gendong River) near the Mall of Indonesia (MOI).

"Illegal parking issues rank second on the list of public complaints because they severely disrupt traffic flow," he expressed, Monday (6/8).

He elaborated that the initiative involves a joint task force of around 50 personnel from the North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Satpol PP, army, and police.

"Various enforcement measures are being implemented against vehicles found in violation of parking ordinances," he explained.

He detailed that 19 motorcycles underwent tire deflation measures, five cars were towed, and 11 motorcycles were impounded via net-carrier trucks.

"The operation is slated to continue for five straight days. Should the evaluation indicate that illegal parking is still prevalent, we will ramp up the enforcement intensity," he remarked.

He went on to say that the crackdown extended to parking attendants. The operation identified official attendants whose terms of service had lapsed yet remained active on-site.

"We're set to coordinate with the Parking Management Unit to review their credentials. As for unauthorized attendants, we are providing coaching and guidance, given that their operations are unlicensed," he added.

Rudi urged vehicle owners affected by the towing crackdown to promptly process the release of their vehicles at the North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency office, ensuring they provide valid credentials.

"It is our hope that this operation fosters greater public awareness regarding parking compliance. Consequently, traffic order and the comfort of all road users can be consistently preserved," he concluded.

The crackdown was appreciated by a security officer at the MOI Apartment, Syarief (36).

"It’s excellent. The area has become cleaner and more orderly. Hopefully, this can also reduce congestion, especially during the morning and evening rush hours," he remarked.
