Sheet Pile Lanjutan Saluran Phb Kali Betik Direalisasikan Tahun Ini

Betik Canal Sheet Pile Construction to Continue This Year

The North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency will build a sheet pile along Betik River connecting (Phb) channel at Jalan Tanah Harapan segment, RW 07, Tugu Selatan Urban Village, Koja Sub-district. The project is aimed at improving flood control while enhancing the surrounding area.

To minimize the risk of water overflow during heavy rainfall

North Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head Heria Suwandi stated the project follows a proposal submitted by RW 07 residents several years ago.

"The construction of this embankment reinforcement is intended to minimize the risk of water overflow during heavy rainfall so that surrounding areas will no longer experience inundation," he explained on Thursday (6/11).

Heria explained that the project includes the construction of a 332-meter sheet pile, two sluice gates measuring 1 x 1.5 meters each, and the rehabilitation of a 439.8-meter interceptor drain.

According to him, the work is being carried out by a third-party contractor and is scheduled for 180 calendar days. Construction began on May 26, 2026, and is targeted for completion on November 21, 2026.

"This project is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen flood-control capacity in North Jakarta," he emphasized.

He added that the agency completed sheet pile construction last year at the Jalan Tanah Harapan segment in RW 22, Kelapa Gading Barat Urban Village. In addition to infrastructure improvements, routine dredging of the Betik Connecting Canal continues to be carried out.

"We will continue this work in stages according to available budget allocations. Hopefully the project will provide a greater sense of safety and comfort for local residents," he said.

Meanwhile, Tugu Selatan Urban Village Head Suparman welcomed the implementation of the sheet pile project this year.

Before construction began, his agency conducted public outreach and local residents expressed full support for the project.

"Residents are very pleased and welcomed this project because they have been waiting for it for a long time," he added.

Suparman hopes the sheet pile construction will provide a long-term solution to standing water and overflows that frequently occur during heavy rainfall.

"We hope that once construction is completed, the area will become safer and better organized, and residents will no longer have to worry about the flood risks they have long complained about," he said.
