Eight personnel of Makasar District's Water Resource, East Jakarta are deployed to dredge connecting channel on Jalan Bentengan or Tiga Sekawan Bridge, RT 01/01, Makasar Urban Village.
Has reached approximately 20 percent
Head of Makasar District's Water Channel Unit, Nurdin said dredging was carried out along 150 meters with a thickness of mud and waste sediment reaching 20 to 30 centimeters.
According to him, dredging was carried out to restore the channel's capacity so that water flow could run optimally and not cause flooding when heavy rains hit the area.
Drainage Revitalization on Jalan Haji Deris Aimed at Flood Prevention"The dredging of the channel, which is approximately two meters deep, was carried out manually," he said, Tuesday (6/9).
Nurdin added that the work has begun on June 8, 2026 and is targeted for completion on June 12.
"Now the work has reached approximately 20 percent progress. The sediment removed will be disposed of at the East Flood Canal dumping site in the Rawa Bebek area of Cakung," he added.
Meanwhile, one of the local residents, Wagiyo (54) appreciates the quick response of the personnel in handling the residents' request.
"The accumulated sediment has hampered water flow and often causes flooding during heavy rain. Hopefully, after dredging, the channel will flow smoothly again, eliminating flooding during heavy rain," he hoped.
