Lenteng Agung Pedestrian Bridge Elevator Back in Service

Two elevators at the Lenteng Agung Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) in South Jakarta have returned to service after repairs to electrical cables damaged by vandalism.

The repairs were completed within a day

Jakarta Public Works Agency Data and Information Center Head Siti Dinarwenny said the Jakarta Public Works Agency and the South Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency had repaired the damaged electrical network serving the elevators.

"The repairs were completed within a day once the required components arrived," she said on Thursday (6/11).

According to Dinarwenny, power has been fully restored and both elevators at the Lenteng Agung Pedestrian Bridge are now operational again.

"The swift repairs reflect the Public Works Agency's commitment to maintaining the quality of public services and ensuring public facilities remain safe and comfortable for residents to use," she asserted.

She added that elevators at pedestrian bridges are particularly important for vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, elderly, pregnant women, and people with special mobility needs.

"We deeply regret the act of vandalism that disrupted the operation of this public facility. Such actions not only damage public infrastructure but aso affect the mobility of residents who rely on these facilities in their daily lives," she said.

Dinarwenny urged residents to help protect and maintain public facilities, emphasizing that active community participation is essential to ensuring they continue to benefit the public in the long term.

"We hope incidents like this will not happen again. Let us work together to protect facilities that have provided significant benefits to the community," she said.

Meanwhile, resident Syahbandi (46) praised the Public Works Agency's swift response in repairing the damaged elevators at the Lenteng Agung Pedestrian Bridge. He said the restoration of the facility would greatly improve pedestrian mobility.

"Thank God the elevators are operational again. Hopefully, those who carry out actions that harm the public and make it difficult for people to use public facilities will realize the consequences of their actions," he said.
