Pramono Praises Community Consistency in Joglo Waste Management

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung commended the residents of RW 07, Joglo Urban Village, Kembangan, West Jakarta, for their consistency in developing a waste management system.

We hope this move will pave the way for a more effective waste management system

He remarked that the community's initiatives harmonize with the Jakarta government's policy of source-based waste segregation and processing.

Pramono shared this during his inspection of the pilot waste management site at RW 07, Joglo, West Jakarta, Thursday (6/11).

"RW 07 Residents have been actively engaged in waste sorting, and from what I have observed, their field practices are running very well," he expressed.

During the visit, Pramono also inspected the maggot cultivation cycle. Maggots are fly larvae that consume organic waste, converting food scraps into organic fertilizer.

Jakarta is demonstrating its resolve in resolving the waste crisis by establishing a 40-hectare processing facility in Ciangir, Tangerang.

"We hope this move will pave the way for a more effective waste management system in the capital," he added.

Notably, RW 07 Joglo has established a comprehensive waste management ecosystem, featuring the Siwali Waste Bank, a composting facility, an eco-enzyme house, a maggot farm, and a vegetable garden.

This segregated waste management system has been in place since June 2026. Under this system, organic waste is collected daily, residual waste twice a week, inorganic waste once a week, and used cooking oil on a monthly basis.
