Anti-Rabies Vaccination Held in Kebon Sirih

Residents of Kebon Sirih, Menteng, Central Jakarta, enthusiastically brought their pets to be vaccinated against rabies in the urban village office, Monday (6/15).

Residents are very enthusiastic

Farisa Wijaya (30), one of the residents, said that she vaccinated his pet cat to maintain the health and safety of his family.

"My child really likes playing with cats," she said.

This mother of two assessed that the free services provided by the Central Jakarta Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture Sub-agency (KPKP) are very helpful for residents.

"If we go to the vet for vaccination, the cost is quite high," she admitted.

Head of Kebon Sirih Urban Village, Henry Mahrojah explained this rabies vaccination service will be carried out over two working days, Monday (6/15) and Wednesday (6/17) the day after tomorrow.

As many as 150 doses of vaccine are provided to vaccinate cats, dogs, monkeys and ferrets kept by residents from 10 RWs and 70 RTs in the area.

"Residents are very enthusiastic about bringing their pets to get free rabies vaccinations," he said.

Meanwhile, Head Section of Animal Husbandry and Health of Central Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency, Syafri Edwar stated from January to mid-June, a total of 1,832 rabies-transmitting animals spread across eight districts have received the rabies vaccine.

"Thousands of pets have been vaccinated, including 1,478 cats, 341 dogs, 11 monkeys, and two civets. We aim to vaccinate 6,000 pets by the end of 2026," he stated.
