In order to welcome Jakarta's 499th Anniversary, the curbs on a number of roads in Rawajati Urban Village, Pancoran District, South Jakarta are painted to beautify the area and improve the safety of road users.

Head Section of Economy and Development of Rawajati Urban Village, Fauzan Bintiang said the painting is run because the color of the previous curb had faded so it needed to be renewed.
"Besides celebrating Jakarta's anniversary, this activity also aims to beautify the environment. Faded curbs are repainted to make the boundary between the road and sidewalk more visible," he said, Wednesday (6/17).
Dr Saharjo-Casablanca Thoroughfare BeautifiedFauzan explained that the curb painting is carried out along approximately eight kilometers and covered three road sections, namely Jalan Raya Kalibata, Jalan Rawajati Timur, and Jalan Rawajati Barat.
"Twenty Public Infrastructure and Facilities Management (PPSU) officers are deployed to paint the curbs black and white. The work is targeted for completion within five days," he added.
Meanwhile, a local resident, Amsari, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Rawajati Urban Village officials in routinely repainting the curbs. Repainted curbs are more easily visible to road users, especially at night.
"It is quite neat. Hopefully, the clearly visible curb will make pedestrians and drivers safer and more comfortable," he admitted.
