Capacity of Two Channels in Karang Anyar Optimized

The Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is optimizing the water channel on Jalan C Alley 4 RT 05 and Jalan D Alley 8 RT 09 RW 05 of Karang Anyar Urban Village, Sawah Besar.

Head of Sawah Besar SDA Unit, Yusuf Sumardani said normalization of the channel on Jalan C Alley 4 is carried out along 75 meters. The work began in the third week of May and currently the progress has reached 92 percent.

Meanwhile, on Jalan D alley 8, normalization is carried out along 50 meters and started on Wednesday (6/18).

"We have deployed 20 Blue Troop personnel for this work. Normalization is targeted to be completed within the next 30 days," he said, Friday (6/19).

According to Yusuf, these two channels are normalized because they are no longer able to accommodate the water during rain, which often caused flooding in the surrounding residential areas.

"We replaced it with a 40 x 40 centimeter U-ditch and a cover. We are optimistic that the normalization will be able to overcome the flooding," he added.

Meanwhile, Supriatno, a resident of RW 05, Karang Anyar Urban Village, said that the normalization of this channel was an aspiration of residents conveyed in RW meeting and Musrenbang.

"Hopefully the new channel will be more optimal, so that it can overcome flooding when it rains," he stated.
