The trees planted are part of the journey towards Jakarta's 500th anniversary in 2027. The planting is the first step in a movement that will continue until it reaches the target of 10,000 trees in various parks and green open spaces throughout Jakarta.
"Jakarta will always be green if women get involved. When women take action, the impact is felt across generations," she admitted.
Meanwhile, Chairwoman of the Jakarta Women's Association (DWP), Lisniawati Uus, explained the planting of 150 pink tabebuya trees is a form of shared commitment to preserving the environment, strengthening green open spaces, and leaving a healthy environment for future generations.
"This movement is a symbol that Jakarta is not only a city with tall buildings and modern technology, but also a city whose residents look after each other, protecting water, air, land and the environment for a shared future," she stated.
She hopes that the trees planted can grow and become a valuable legacy for future generations.
"May Jakarta become greener, healthier, and friendlier to children and women," she hoped.
