Approaching Its Fifth Century, Jakarta Must Be a Safe and Livable City for All

Jakarta City Council (DPRD) Commission E Member Farah Savira hopes Jakarta will continue developing into a city that promotes welfare, advancement, and education of all residents ahead of its 499th anniversary.

Jakarta's transformation into a global city must be accompanied by improvements in residents' quality of life

As the city approaches its fifth century, Jakarta is not only expected to become a developed and competitive global city, but also provide a sense of safety, comfort, and security for all residents.

Vice Governor Reports Regional Development Achievements to DPRD

"Jakarta must become a comfortable, safe, and peaceful home for all its residents," Farah said on Friday (6/19).

She stressed that various basic services need to be continuously strengthened, including neighborhood security, access to education, and the provision of child- and family-friendly public spaces.

Farah hopes Jakarta can overcome various crimes and acts of violence that continue to concern residents. At the same time, access to education must become easier so that no Jakarta children are forced to drop out of school.

According to her, every child has the right to equal opportunities to receive education and develop their potential.

Farah also highlighted the importance of providing safe and comfortable play areas for children as spaces to support their growth and social interaction.

"Children must also have safe and comfortable play spaces where they can grow and develop," she added.

Farah emphasized that Jakarta's transformation into a global city must be accompanied by improvements in residents' quality of life. Therefore, urban development should prioritize public welfare and create a livable environment for all.

"Our hope is for Jakarta to become a livable city while upholding its values as a global city," she said.
