Rano Officially Opens Discover Betawi Art and Culture 2026

The Jakarta Vice Governor, Rano Karno, officially opened the Discover Betawi Art and Culture 2026 event at the Borobudur Hotel, Pasar Baru, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, Friday (6/19).

The event, which is held to commemorate the 499th anniversary of Jakarta, is planned to last for one month, until Friday, July 24.

"I express my appreciation to the management of Hotel Borobudur for organizing this event. Almost every year, when Jakarta celebrates its anniversary, Hotel Borobudur participates," said Rano.

According to Rano, this activity demonstrates the successful collaboration between the local government and all types of businesses, including hotels. In addition to the Borobudur Hotel, Rano stated that the Jakarta Provincial Government has also collaborated with 15 other hotels in Jakarta.

Rano hopes that these various events will bring Betawi culture closer to tourists. These events include offering authentic culinary delights, traditional dance performances, and welcoming guests with a Betawi feel.

"This is part of an effort to promote Betawi culture through various activities that are close to tourists," added Rano.

After welcoming the 499th anniversary, Rano admitted that his party would immediately form a working committee to prepare for Jakarta's five-century anniversary in 2027.

The team, Rano explained, will compile a calendar of events and prepare for various international-scale events from early January to December 2027.

"There are international-scale activities every month as Jakarta moves towards becoming a Global City. Hopefully, we can continue this collaborative effort year after year, hoping to increase the number of tourist visits to Jakarta and boost its fiscal performance," Rano hoped.
