JIS-Ancol Integrated Infrastructure Officially Activated

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially launched a series of integrated infrastructure projects in the JIS-Ancol area. The launch featured the activation of the JIS train station, the inauguration of the BTN-sponsored pedestrian bridge (JPO), and the opening of the Ancol-JIS gate.

Presented as a 499th birthday gift to the city, the completion of these projects highlights the strong synergy between the central and provincial governments.

"Thanks for this 499th birthday gift for the city—the activation of JIS and Ancol, including this train station and the connecting bridge we’ve named 'Bersama BTN'," he expressed, at the JIS Train Station, North Jakarta, Tuesday (6/23).

Rp1 Fare, Strengthens Public Transportation Use

He hoped that these new facilities would optimize the use of JIS while addressing the long-standing transport and parking challenges in the vicinity.

"With the train, Transjabodetabek services, and the option for visitors to park at Ancol—just 300-400 meters away from the stadium—we can alleviate much of the traffic congestion that typically occurs during major events like concerts or football games," Pramono explained.

Beyond its use for sports matches and entertainment events like concerts, JIS is also regarded as a favorite location for the public to exercise.

Moreover, the completion of this integrated infrastructure highlights the commitment to equitable development across Jakarta, especially in North Jakarta.

Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi appreciated the Jakarta government's dedication to establishing integrated public transport in strategic locations. He hoped that opening the JIS station would prompt a shift toward greater public transport usage among the community.

"By opening and activating the JIS station, we expect the community—especially those in North Jakarta—to have better connectivity to public services and transport," he remarked.

In line with the increasing ridership, Dudy pledged to continuously upgrade the station's facilities and infrastructure.

"We will continue to expand and enhance these facilities to keep pace with the development of the JIS area and the evolving needs of the public," he emphasized.
