The South Jakarta City Government will soon build a water channel on Jalan Muchtar Raya, Petukangan Utara Urban Village, Pesanggrahan District.

South Jakarta Mayor, Syafrin Liputo said this effort is a follow-up to residents' reports regarding the flooding that often occurs in the area, especially during heavy rain.
"This is actually a border area, not just South Jakarta, but also West Jakarta and Tangerang. We have conducted a review and coordinated regarding its handling," he said, Tuesday (6/23).

"Collaboration between agencies to accelerate the resolution of various infrastructure problems, especially those related to controlling inundation and flooding in border areas, is very necessary," he added.
He urged the public to follow the directions of officers and the signs installed during the channel construction process, as the work is expected to impact traffic flow in the surrounding area.
"I hope this project can be realized soon with a comprehensive solution so that the people in the border area of Jakarta and Tangerang can have a safe and comfortable environment to live in," he continued.
Meanwhile, the Head of the South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency, Santo, stated that repairs to the channel on Jalan Muchtar Raya will be carried out along 243.8 meters in the South Jakarta area and along 680.6 meters in the West Jakarta area.
He explained that the project procurement process will begin through the auction stage on June 25, 2026. Construction work is targeted to begin in the second week of July 2026 by the appointed contractor.
"We hope the construction of this water channel goes smoothly. We also urge residents to use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion," he appealed.
