Syafrin Strengthens Coordination Between S. Jakarta Forkopimko and Legislators

South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in addressing various development challenges across South Jakarta.

He made the remarks during a coffee morning gathering with members of the South Jakarta Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimko) and Jakarta City Council (DPRD) legislators representing the South Jakarta electoral district.

Syafrin noted that the meeting was more than a ceremonial gathering, serving as an opportunity for stakeholders to strengthen communication and coordination while discussing a range of strategic issues, including governance, law enforcement, public welfare, economic development, education, and religious affairs.

"In a dynamic area with a high level of complexity, we face various issues emerging within the community. These problems cannot be solved through sectoral egos or by working independently. We must operate within a single ecosystem through cross-sector collaboration," he said at the South Jakarta Mayor's Office on Thursday (6/25).

He also outlined several flood mitigation measures being implemented by the South Jakarta Administration, including the construction of retention ponds and lakes, the development of infiltration wells, large-scale community clean-up activities targeting drainage channels and rivers, and the use of the Flood Control System, which integrates CCTV cameras to monitor water levels in real time.

Regarding illegal parking, Syafrin said he had instructed the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency to work closely with relevant stakeholders to intensify enforcement efforts and strengthen joint patrols.

"I have instructed the Transportation Sub-agency and related parties to take firm action against illegal parking attendants to create a deterrent effect and maintain order in public spaces," he said.

He also stressed the importance of implementing Jakarta Governor Instruction No. 5/2026 on Waste Sorting and Management at Source.

"All sectors of the community must implement waste sorting and management, from offices, hotels, and shopping centers to households," he added.

With the economy still facing a range of challenges, Syafrin called on all Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) to pay close attention to labor-intensive employment programs as a measure to mitigate the impact of both global and domestic economic pressures.

"The recruitment process must be conducted transparently, without favoritism or interference from any party," he asserted.

Wrapping up his remarks, Syafrin used coffee as a metaphor for collaboration, saying that even bitter coffee can become enjoyable when properly blended.

"Likewise, the challenges facing South Jakarta may be complex, but with effective communication, strong commitment, and close collaboration, we can turn them into solutions that benefit residents," he said.

Meanwhile, Jakarta DPRD Vice Chairperson Wibi Andrino said the government must continue to adopt a firm yet humane approach in governing.

According to him, the current economic challenges have placed additional burdens on some residents, underscoring the need for policies that emphasize certainty, public benefit, and fairness

"Government must be firm, but it must also remain humane. In carrying out its duties, it should always uphold three key principles: certainty, public benefit, and justice," he said.

Wibi added that the Jakarta DPRD is ready to work with all stakeholders to build a more humane South Jakarta and improve residents' quality of life.

"I have high hopes for the mayor's efforts to develop this city. I am confident that under his leadership, South Jakarta will become a better and more advanced city," he said.
