Pramono Urges Jakarta Officials to be Bold in Decision-Making

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stressed the need for Commitment Making Officers to exercise strategic courage and smart risk management in their roles.

I am calling for them to be not only decisive but also brave enough to manage existing risks

This is crucial given Jakarta's massive City Budget (APBD), which demands high accountability and must deliver significant benefits to the public.

"I am calling for them to be not only decisive but also brave enough to manage existing risks. However, let it be clear: officials shouldn't face personal risks as a result of pursuing improper personal agendas,” he remarked, at the Balai Agung Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall, Monday (6/29).

Approaching 500, Pramono Rallies Public Optimism for Jakarta

During the opening of a Technical Workshop for Jakarta's Commitment Making Officers, Governor Pramono cited the Jakarta government's success in reviving and completing development projects that had been abandoned for years.

Examples include the demolition of the stalled monorail pillars along Rasuna Said and the resolution of the Sumber Waras Hospital case. This bold move—taken in collaboration with the Chief Prosecutor—to settle these projects has significantly strengthened Jakarta’s standing on the international stage.

“Why did I give these two examples? Because the risks weren't just high—they were immense. However, you must be savvy enough to navigate those risks, as long as you are free from any personal agenda,” he explained.

He pointed out that Jakarta has climbed from 74th to 71st in the Global City Index. Not only that, but the city's public infrastructure is on a steady rise, now ranking second across the entire ASEAN region.

This rise in global standings reflects the positive impact of ongoing development and the city’s commitment to superior transport connectivity.

"This is exactly what we are pushing for, and our connectivity has now surpassed 93 percent. Hopefully, with these strategic measures, Jakarta will become more comfortable, safe, and attractive,” he explained.

Pram fully backs the technical training for Commitment Officers (PPK) to sharpen human resources capabilities, fueling Jakarta’s journey toward becoming a world-class global city.

Jakarta Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM), Dyan Airlangga stated that the technical workshop aims to sharpen the skills and expertise of Commitment Officers.

According to him, it aims to ensure that government procurement is not only transparent and accountable but also highly efficient and result-oriented to drive the city’s progress.

This training involves 200 Commitment Officers tasked with managing Jakarta’s most strategic and large-scale procurement projects.

"This aims to equip our officers with the competence and integrity needed to make bold decisions and handle complex risks with professional excellence," he closed.
