Pedongkelan Bridge Lights Back On After Swift Repairs

The North Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency repaired the lighting facilities at the Pedongkelan Pedestrian Bridge on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, Kelapa Gading.

The repairs were initiated after several lights became dysfunctional due to cable theft and the vandalism of lighting components.
Urban Infrastructure and Public Street Lighting Head, Untung Pitoyo stated 10 personnel were deployed to conduct a thorough sweep and comprehensive repairs to restore the bridge's lighting to its optimal function.

He explained that the work involved installing new wiring and lighting units. The materials used included 130 meters of 4x16 mm² twisted cable, eight units of specialized bridge LED lights, and 10 meters of 3 x 1.5 mm² NYY cable.
"Repairs were conducted intensively until the entire cabling network was fully installed. The bridge is now brightly lit once again, ensuring public safety, especially after dark," he explained.
So, residents are encouraged to help protect government-built public infrastructure. Vandalism is more than just a nuisance—it's a danger that puts everyone’s safety at risk.
"These facilities belong to all of us. They serve us best when we take care of them as a community. If you spot any vandalism, please don't hesitate to report it to the authorities right away," he added.
Meanwhile, a local resident, Yusuf (38), admitted to feeling much safer using the bridge at night now that the lighting has been restored.
"I hope the lighting lasts and that there is increased surveillance to prevent any more individuals from damaging public facilities, as these belong to all of us," he stated.
