Jalan Kosambi Sunter Agung Kini Dihiasi Mural dan Tanaman Hias

Jalan Kosambi Now Adorned with Murals and Lush Greenery

Residents of RT 01/RW 06 and RT 01/RW 07 in Sunter Agung, Tanjung Priok, now enjoy a refreshed environment. The Jalan Kosambi area has undergone an aesthetic makeover, featuring colorful murals and lush ornamental parks to enhance the local landscape.

It used to be cluttered and unkempt, but now it’s vibrant and refreshing

Sunter Agung Urban Village Head, Ahmad Firdaus noted that this project belongs to the Second Quarter 2026 Priority Area Program.

It aims to clean up main access roads previously cluttered and dimmed by vandalism, illegal parking, and street vendors.

Jalan Bahari I Makeover Wins Local Hearts

"We initiated this makeover because the area was previously an eyesore and lacked proper organization," he expressed, Friday (7/3).

The project features murals stretching 30 meters along both sides of the street, each standing two meters tall.

"Worked on in phases by 11 PPSU personnel," he explained.

Beyond the artwork, personnel are also conducting environmental cleanups, scrubbing away vandalism, and reorganizing the area to create a more orderly atmosphere.

"The murals are quite diverse, showcasing everything from waste management tips and the iconic Garuda emblem to vibrant marine life and the Jakarta logo. Our goal is for these visuals to offer a mix of 'edutainment'—educating while entertaining everyone who walks by," he noted.

Firdaus added that the area's revitalization also includes urban greening through the placement of potted ornamental plants. This initiative was made possible through cross-sectoral collaboration and active community participation.

The makeover is a true collaborative effort, with St. Luke’s Church donating greenery and PT Handi Jaya providing the necessary water supply for regular upkeep.

"The vision was to establish a well-organized, vibrant, and verdant green space. We're heartened by the community’s enthusiasm; residents are doing more than just supporting the project—they are taking ownership in maintaining the neighborhood," Firdaus remarked.

He hoped that residents would continue to uphold the cleanliness and beauty of Jalan Kosambi, ensuring it remains lush, orderly, and free from urban blight.

"We aim to sustain the spirit of mutual cooperation in environmental care for the collective well-being of all," he added.

Local resident Sarah Poerwanti (31) welcomed the 'new face' of Jalan Kosambi.

"It’s a night and day difference. It used to be cluttered and unkempt, but now it’s vibrant and refreshing. The murals have even become a popular selfie spot for kids and neighbors alike because they are so eye-catching," she admitted.
