Governor Pramono Opens JEFF 2026, Aims for a Cleaner and Healthier Jakarta

Marking a bold step toward a greener future, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung launched the Jakarta Eco Future Festival (JEFF) 2026 at Jakarta City Hall, Friday (7/3).

We hope this becomes a daily guide for everyone

With the theme "Real Action, Tangible Impact," the event highlights Jakarta’s commitment to evolving into a world-class city that is clean, healthy, and sustainable.

Pramono also accepted an award and a MURI record for the largest-ever public participation in eco-enzyme production in Jakarta.

City Council Monitors Waste Sorting Implementation

"This serves as a reminder that Jakarta—as a global city, the national economic hub, and the nation’s capital—bears a profound responsibility to improve its own waste management systems," he expressed.

He highlighted that waste management is a shared responsibility, requiring participation from all parties. He also underscored Jakarta's determination to slash the amount of waste ending up at the Bantargebang Landfill.

"Reducing the residue sent to the landfill to below 20 or 25 percent is the true benchmark for measuring the improvement of Jakarta's waste management," he explained.

Alongside the advanced waste treatment facilities at the Rorotan and Bantargebang RDF Plants, the Jakarta Government is driving a large-scale waste segregation campaign. Pramono believes that this integrated approach is the key to finally overcoming Jakarta’s waste management issues.

Pramono also inaugurated the Early Warning System (EWS) on the Udara Jakarta portal and brought the City Hall Waste Station back to life.

This new early warning system features an advanced 3-day air quality forecasting tool.

"We hope this becomes a daily guide for everyone to stay informed about the state of Jakarta's air," he noted.

As for the reactivation of the City Hall Waste Station or Waste Bank stands as a testament to the Jakarta government's commitment to leading by example—proving that real change begins from within.

Jakarta Environmental Agency Head, Dudi Gardesi reported that JEFF 2026 embodies the spirit of collaboration for a sustainable future.

"With its discussion forums, educational showcases, and community-driven activities, JEFF acts as a vital collaborative space to empower residents and boost community engagement in protecting our environment," he remarked.

Dudi went on to say that the Udara Jakarta Early Warning System is a result of a strategic synergy between BMKG and the Jakarta Health Agency.

It functions as a comprehensive instrument to provide better transparency on air quality, merging real-time monitoring with future forecasts, meteorological data, and other critical indicators.

This system is envisioned as a strategic roadmap for swift, responsive action in tackling Jakarta's air pollution.

In a parallel effort for sustainability, the City Hall Waste Station was officially relaunched through a partnership with Recosystem and the Regional Secretariat's General Affairs Bureau. This move is designed to instill deeper waste-sorting habits and drive a circular economy right at the heart of the city's administration

The festival offers a vibrant lineup of talk shows, workshops, and forums, including the 'More Than Just Trash' exhibition. These activities dive deep into waste management, circular economy strategies, air quality, and sustainable urban growth.

"Our aim is for this synergy between government, industry, academia, and society to grow even stronger, paving the way for a clean, green, and sustainable Jakarta for all," he stated.
