Central Jakarta Continues Pursuing a Target of 50 Percent Waste Sorting

The Central Jakarta City Government is targeting 50 percent of households across 44 urban villages and eight districts to have implemented a waste sorting program by early August.

Central Jakarta Mayor, Arifin said to realize this target, his rank continues to intensify socialization of waste sorting from the source.

City Council Monitors Waste Sorting Implementation

"We have conducted socialization activities targeting households, hotels, shopping centers, shops, offices and even the mayor's office environment," he said, Monday (7/6).

He added that the realization of waste sorting at the urban village level is currently still around 11 to 30 percent.

"It must be ensured as soon as possible that waste sorting is carried out in every household," he added.

His party also encouraged the management of organic and inorganic waste as implemented in the Mayor's office.

"I will also go around to the urban village and district offices to see the management of inorganic and organic waste to set an example for the community," he stated.
