South Jakarta PMI Provides Disaster Emergency Training

A total of 100 participants attended the disaster mitigation and emergency response training held by the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) South Jakarta at the Jakarta State Polytechnic.

Head of South Jakarta PMI, Mundari said this activity was held to increase preparedness to face various emergency situations through a combination of theoretical learning and field simulations.

"We conduct this training to increase the participants' preparedness regarding emergency conditions that can occur at any time and anywhere," he said, Thursday (7/9).

Mundari explained that in the training, participants received various important materials, ranging from disaster mitigation, first aid, victim assessment, triage, building evacuation, initial fire handling, emergency response command systems, to simulations of mass casualty handling.

"Participants are also equipped with the ability to build effective coordination between emergency response team members," he explained.

According to him, this training is part of the South Jakarta PMI's commitment to building a culture of safety awareness, improving human resource competency, and strengthening disaster preparedness systems in the workplace and educational institutions.

Meanwhile, one of the participants, Andy Gumelar, said that the training he attended provided a very useful experience because the material presented was combined with practices that resembled real conditions in the field.

"We were also taught in detail. Hopefully, if a disaster occurs, we can apply it effectively," he hoped.
