Makasar Sub-district Head, Dimas Prayudi, confirmed that the initial phase focuses on clearing seven illegal structures and dozens of informal street vendor stalls to reclaim public space.
"These structures and street vendors are in breach of Bylaw 8/2007 on Public Order," he expressed, Wednesday (7/15).

"Fortunately, they understood the situation. As a result, most of the structures were already vacated by the time today’s operation began," he added.
Once the site is cleared, the land will be restored to its original purpose as a green belt or park. Meanwhile, vendors are being relocated to official spots at Makasar Lokbin and Embrio Market, ensuring they can continue their businesses legally.
"Thus far, 37 traders have registered for their new spots. We support our local traders, provided they operate within the official designated areas," he emphasized.
Aside that, Makasar Sub-district Satpol PP Head, Robinhot Butar Butar added that the operation was a massive collaborative effort involving a multi-agency task force—including Satpol PP, PPSU, Fire and Rescue, Water Resources, Public Works, and Parks and Forestry Agency. The team was also supported by army, police, and local community leaders.
"We took a grassroots approach, going door-to-door to personally ask vendors to vacate the premises ahead of today’s cleanup," he stated.
