Satpol PP Controls Street Vendors on Jalan HR Rasuna Said

Dozens of South Jakarta Satpol PP personnel controlled street vendors occupying the sidewalk and roadside along Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Setiabudi District.

Head Section of Operational and Enforcement for South Jakarta Satpol PL, Ali Haryanto said the activity was run according to public complaints. Illegal street vendors are considered to disturb public order as well as the comfort and safety of road users.

"We quickly responded to the report by controlling the illegal street vendors there," he said, Wednesday (1/7).

According to him, 50 personnel were deployed during today's activity.

"They were warned not to return to selling in prohibited locations," he added.

Jalan HR Rasuna Said is one of the roads that often experiences traffic congestion due to the activities of street vendors and online motorcycle taxis that hang out around the LRT station.

"We also cooperate with South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency to do advance monitoring," he continued.

One of the residents, Sulaiman Anwar (31), appreciated the control conducted by Satpol PP.

"The sidewalk is already good. But we are difficult to pass since street vendors occupy it," he admitted.
