MSMEs in Jelambar Face Sanctions for Not Sorting Waste

The Jelambar Urban Village, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, will impose sanctions on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in its area who are found not sorting waste.

Impose administrative sanctions

Head of Jelambar Urban Village, Pradista Machdala Putra said his party has issued a warning to two MSME actors in RW 02 who have not sorted their waste, in accordance with the Governor's Instruction (Ingub) number 5 of 2026.

Residents of RW 08 Tanah Sereal Intensify Waste Sorting at Home

Pradista explained that the instruction regulates the movement to sort and process waste from the source, and requires households and business actors to sort organic, inorganic and residual waste.

"If they still do not sort their waste, we will impose administrative sanctions," he said, Wednesday (7/15).

In addition to issuing warnings, Pradista also educates workers and business owners on how to properly sort their waste. Inorganic waste can be distributed to waste banks or collectors, while organic waste can be composted.

However, due to the substantial volume of organic waste generated daily, Pradista recommends that businesses collaborate with third-party waste collection agencies. This will ensure that their organic waste doesn't burden environmental waste management.

"According to regulations, starting August 1, the Bantar Gebang landfill will only accept residual waste. Therefore, all households and businesses are required to separate their waste at the source," he stated.
