Fire at Spark Sport Academy Pondok Bambu Successfully Extinguished

The rapid response of personnel from the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency successfully extinguished the fire at Spark Sport Academy on Jalan Pahlawan Revolusi, Pondok Bambu Urban Village, Duren Sawit District. Thanks to their swift response, the fire was prevented from spreading to other buildings, and all occupants were safely evacuated.

Caused by an electrical short circuit

Head Section of Operation for the Sub-agency, Abdul Wahid said the fire was reported at 10:35 AM.

"The fire originated in a warehouse on the third floor of the building. It is currently suspected that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit," he said, Monday (7/20).

He explained the incident began when an employee noticed smoke billowing in the second-floor corridor. After an investigation, the fire was discovered to have originated in a warehouse on the third floor.

Employees attempted to extinguish the fire using a portable fire extinguisher available inside the building. However, the blaze was uncontrollable, so they immediately contacted the Fire Agency Volunteer and forwarded the report to the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency.

"We deployed six fire trucks and 25 personnel. The firefighting operation began at 10:42 AM," he explained.

The fire was declared fully extinguished at 11:10 AM. There were no fatalities or injuries.

Meanwhile, Head of Pondok Bambu Urban Village, Ateng Surahman stated around 25 children were participating in sports activities on the ground floor of the building when the fire broke out. All participants were immediately evacuated as soon as thick smoke was seen billowing from the upper floors.

"All the children were evacuated quickly so there were no victims in this incident," Ateng stated.
