Pangkalan Asem Drainage Optimized to Tackle Rainwater Overflows

The optimization of a 50-meter drainage channel on Jalan Pangkalan Asem, Cempaka Putih Barat is slated for completion by the end of July. Led by the Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA), the work has been underway since June 15.

Cempaka Putih SDA Unit Head, Sahudi explained that the work involves 15 personnel manually dredging silt and mud that had been clogging the waterway.

"It is a direct follow-up to aspirations voiced by residents during the Community Development Planning Forum (Musrenbang)," he stated, Tuesday (7/21).

He noted that the area has been prone to flooding due to obstructed water flow in the channel connecting to Jalan Pangkalan Asem.

"We expect the drainage to function at peak performance during the rainy season," he added.

Ridwansyah (46), a local resident, shared the sentiment, expressing his appreciation for the prompt response.

"Thank you for following up on our request to clear out this drainage system," he stated.
