Syafrin Ensures Students of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Participate in Teaching and Learning Activities

The South Jakarta Mayor, Syafrin Liputo, ensured that the teaching and learning process for students at SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09, Kebayoran Lama, would continue to run smoothly.

Syafrin stated that, in accordance with the directives of Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, students at damaged schools must continue to receive equal learning opportunities. One way to do this is by utilizing other schools in the area.

"We remain committed to the principle that our students must continue to receive equal learning opportunities," he said, Thursday (7/23).

Syafrin explained that the handling process after a school building collapsed took time because there were several stages, including construction planning.

According to him, one of the main factors that caused the SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 building to experience damage was the age of the building which had been standing since 1974. Even though it had been renovated several times, the renovations did not change the main structure of the building.

"This isn't the only old school in Jakarta. There are many others. Gradually, colleagues from the Education Agency are continuing to renovate and improve existing schools," he explained.

According to Pramono Anung's direction, he added, the reconstruction of the school will be accelerated because the planning stages are already available.

Meanwhile, Santoso, Head of the South Jakarta Education Sub-agency Region I, added that after the school building collapsed, his party moved teaching and learning activities to a temporary location. He also plans to merge the two schools into a single educational unit.

Santoso explained that, based on applicable provisions and regulations, the merger is feasible. This is because the two schools are located in the same complex and have the same number of student groups. Therefore, the merger would still have sufficient capacity.

"We plan to build a new building on the land of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09, which is currently in a dilapidated condition. The existing school area will be converted into an entrance and field," he explained.

Regarding extracurricular activities, Santoso emphasized that they have not been canceled. They have simply been moved to another location and adjusted to accommodate available time.

"I apologize to parents and the community for any inconvenience and unoptimal service during this transition period. We continue to strive to find the best solution to ensure students' rights are met," he stated.
