Central Jakarta is Committed to Reducing Stunting

The Central Jakarta City Government is determined to reduce stunting rates in an integrated and comprehensive manner, by involving government elements, the business world, academics, community organizations, and community elements.

Real cross-sector collaboration is needed

Central Jakarta City Secretary Denny Ramdany stated that stunting is not only a matter of children's height not being appropriate for their age, but also a human development issue that impacts the quality of health, intelligence, productivity, and even the nation's future competitiveness.

"Integrated and comprehensive handling of stunting is needed from government, business, academics, community organizations, and community elements," he said.

He emphasized that all regional apparatus and stakeholders have a clear role in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating various specific and sensitive interventions in an integrated manner.

"Real cross-sector collaboration is needed, starting from increasing access to drinking water and proper sanitation, family food security, parenting education, social protection, family empowerment, to improving the quality of maternal and child health services," he emphasized.

He also invited all parties to work together so that Central Jakarta can make a real contribution to realizing the acceleration of stunting reduction.

Meanwhile, Head of Central Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency, Novia Silmiati exlplained based on data from the 2025 Jakarta Carik Dashboard, 5,122 out of 18,558 toddlers in the Central Jakarta Administration experienced stunting, and 4,959 families at risk of stunting were targeted by various intervention programs.

"We have 44 active Family Support Teams providing support to pregnant women, prospective brides, postpartum mothers, babies and toddlers in all urban villages in Central Jakarta," she explained.

She added that the data serves as a reminder that accelerating stunting reduction requires a shared commitment to strengthening coordination, aligning perceptions, and ensuring that each regional apparatus optimally fulfills its role. This ensures that interventions are truly targeted.

"Family support, nutritional fulfillment, parenting education, and strengthening interventions in the First 1,000 Days of Life must be continuously strengthened," she added.
