Free Beverage Workshop Empowers Budding Entrepreneurs on Harapan Island

The Seribu Islands Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Sub-agency (Nakertransgi) hosted an entrepreneurship training session on beverage production for 10 residents of Harapan Island at Widya Bahari RPTRA.

This training is a perfect fit for the Seribu Islands

Fitriyah (27), a local resident, expressed her delight at being selected for the program. According to her, the curriculum was highly engaging as it focused more on hands-on practice rather than just theory.

"This training is a perfect fit for the Seribu Islands. The tropical heat is the ideal match for refreshing drinks. I plan to take these lessons to heart and apply them daily. With any luck, I can even turn this into a small business," she expressed, Wednesday (7/29).

Hermawan, Head of the Administrative Sub-division, noted that the workshop is all about empowering locals and helping new independent businesses take root in the island region.

"During the five-day session, which runs from July 27 to 31, 2026, we are teaching participants the skills to make trendy, contemporary drinks," he explained.

He added that participants are engaging in hands-on sessions to make a wide range of drinks, such as Mango Lassi, Roasted Milk Tea, Palm Sugar Coffee, Bir Pletok (traditional herb-based drink), Boba Latte, Wedang Ronde (a warm ginger drink with small dumplings made of rice flour), Almond Latte, Fruit Punch, Moccacino, and Lemon Lemongrass.

Beyond just perfecting flavor profiles, participants are also being taught packaging techniques to boost marketability, logo design, and the process of obtaining a Business Identification Number (NIB). The curriculum further covers Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculations and e-commerce promotional strategies.

"We hope that after this training, participants will be equipped to launch their own ventures, thereby bolstering their household income," he expressed.

Following the Harapan Island sessions, similar programs will roll out on Tidung Island (August 10–14) and Pramuka Island (August 31 – September 4).

The program received appreciation from Muhammad Nuralim, Head of Harapan Island Urban Village.

"We hope this workshop makes a real-world difference for everyone involved. By turning these new skills into thriving businesses, the participants can help drive economic growth across the islands," he hoped.
