SMKN 55 Jakarta New Building Equipped with Modern Facilities

Construction of the new building for SMKN 55 Jakarta on Jalan Pademangan VII, Pademangan Timur Urban Village, Pademangan, North Jakarta, has been completed and is ready to be used for teaching and learning activities. The six-story building features a modern concept with various facilities to support student activities and creativity.

Much more complete and modern

The Headmaster of SMKN 55 Jakarta, Djamilah, said that this new building was a long wait for all school residents, because the condition of the old building was no longer suitable for use.

"The facilities available are much more complete and modern," she said, Monday (8/3).

The new building is equipped with four elevator units to facilitate access between floors, five stair access points, disability-friendly toilets, CCTV cameras at various points, and a fire protection system in the form of an integrated alarm and hydrant.

The space is also designed to meet the needs of the four areas of expertise. The ground and first floors are used as practice rooms for Light Vehicle Engineering (TKR) and Motorcycle Engineering (TSM).

The second floor is used for the Electrical Power Installation Engineering (TITL) practice room and the school management room, while the third floor is used for the Visual Communication Design (DKV) practice room. The fourth through sixth floors are used as theory classrooms.

"The new building features a basketball court and a futsal court on the rooftop. The rooftop will eventually become an urban farming area as part of the school's greening program," she explained.

She added that currently, SMKN 55 Jakarta has around 769 students divided into 22 study groups.

"With a more representative building and modern facilities, we hope that students' enthusiasm for learning will increase, teachers' creativity will continue to develop, and we will be able to produce superior and competent graduates," she hoped.

Luna Aliya (17), a 11th-grade student majoring in Visual Communication Design (DKV), said she was pleased with her school's new look. She added that the more modern atmosphere of the building makes students feel more comfortable studying.

According to her, the futsal and basketball courts on the rooftop area is an attractive facility for students to exercise and develop their interests through various extracurricular activities.

"I was so happy. The building is tall, sophisticated, and spacious. So we could get back to our activities comfortably. The atmosphere is like a modern school, even like something out of a Korean drama. The restrooms are also clean and nice," she admitted.
