Abandoned Land in Grogol Developed into Urban Farming

Abandoned land measuring 120 square meters on Jalan Semeru 2, RT 07/07, Grogol Urban Village, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, is being utilized by local PKK cadres as an urban farming area.

Head of Grogol Urban Village, Ady Saputro said the development of the land into urban farming has been underway since December 2025. Previously, the location was often used as an illegal and slum waste dump (TPS).

Ady explained that his party is collaborating with 10 PKK ranks in his region to carry out development and maintenance.
"Currently, the land has been used by residents to plant various kinds of medicinal and productive plants," he explained.
Ady believes that urban farming will not only improve environmental quality, but also strengthen food security. Residents can use the harvested crops for their families' consumption.
"Government programs will not run optimally without public support," he emphasized.
The Head of Working Group (Pokja) 3 of the Grogol Urban Village TP PKK, Reni Wahyu Ningtyas, explained that the PKK and dasawisma cadres take turns on duty every day to carry out maintenance, watering and planting.
Currently, various types of family medicinal plants (TOGA) and productive plants have been developed, such as chilies, corn, peanuts, long beans, bitter melon, breadfruit and honey gourd.
"We will add more productive plants for family food security," she stated.
