South Jakarta Ensures Readiness of LRT Manggarai Station Support Facilities

South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo confirmed that supporting facilities and infrastructure around LRT Manggarai Station, including along Jalan Minangkabau Barat and Jalan Minangkabau Timur, Manggis Market, Setiabudi, are adequate to support public mobility.

We must ensure everything is ready here, especially facilities for pedestrians

According to him, the monitoring was carried out to ensure comfort, safety, and optimal services for public transportation users ahead of the opening of the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route.

"We have been informed that the route will begin operating soon. Therefore, we must ensure everything is ready here, especially facilities for pedestrians," he said on Thursday (8/6).

Syafrin explained that Manggarai Station will serve as the terminal station for the extended Jakarta LRT route. The new service is expected to help ease traffic congestion while improving mobility for residents of Jakarta and surrounding areas.

He added that all units within the South Jakarta City Administration are currently focusing on improving the area's appearance and supporting infrastructure around the station to ensure seamless integration.

"The work includes improving green open spaces by beautifying and maintaining existing parks, as well as repairing and repainting fences around Manggarai Station," he noted.

In addition to park improvements, Syafrin said the administration has coordinated with the Public Works Agency to repair sidewalks and replace damaged curbstones to make the area more pedestrian-friendly.

"Through the integration of a modern station with a well-organized surrounding area, we hope mobility around Manggarai will become smoother, safer, and more comfortable," he emphasized.

Syafrin urged residents to help keep the area clean and free from vandalism once the improvements are completed and the LRT begins operations.

"Let's work together to take care of the facilities the government has provided. Well-maintained facilities will help residents feel safe and comfortable," he asserted.

Meanwhile, Pasar Manggis Urban Village Head Ahmad Ziyad said his team has also removed illegal structures, street vendor stalls, and unauthorized banners around the station area.

"In line with the mayor's directive, we will continue coordinating with relevant stakeholders to create a safe and comfortable environment, particularly around the LRT station," he said.
