Settlements in Three Urban Villages Inundated

Heavy rain that flushed the capital and Bogor, West Java, triggering overflowing water of Cipinang and Sunter rivers in Makasar Sub-district. A number of settlements in three villages were flooded to a height of one meter.

Initially the water level was 20-30 centimeters. But slowly risen steadily up to one meter,

RW 03 Cipinang Melayu Chairman, Muchtar Usman said, the flood started coming when the people are doing sahur (predawn meal), around 3 AM. The water coming from the overflow of Sunter River continue to rise to its peak around 9.30 AM.

Flooding in Muara Angke Receded

"Initially the water level was 20-30 centimeters. But slowly risen steadily up to one meter," he stated, Saturday (6/18).

A number of citizens have been evacuated to Cipinang Urban Village Karang Taruna and Borobudur University buildings. The worst flood hit RW 03, precisely at RT 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. Similar condition also hit RW 04, precisely at RT 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 and 07.

Makasar Sub-district Vice Chairman, Tri Saptanti disclosed flood is due to flash flood from Bogor, West Jakarta. Thus it caused overflowing water of Sunter and Cipinang rivers. So far, the water has drowned three urban villages, namely Cipinang Melayu, Makasar dan Halim Perdanakusuma.

"We set up health post in the refugee camps in SKKT Cipinang Melayu building," she expressed.

According to her, the number of the refugees in Cipinang Melayu SKKT building is temporarily 31 people, consisting of 19 adults, 1 edlerly and 11 children. While refugee camps in Borobudur University, its number is still unknown.
