The Regional Regulation Formation Body (Bapemperda) of the Jakarta City Council has resumed deliberations on the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) concerning Amendments to Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024 regarding Regional Taxes and Levies.

Chairman of Jakarta City Council's Bapemperda said deliberations on the draft regional regulation are aimed at maintaining a balance between efforts to increase Regional Revenue (PAD) and the protection of low-income households (MBR).

Of the 118 proposed articles, 59 have undergone comprehensive deliberation. According to Aziz, the adjustments to taxes and levies are expected to boost regional revenue while making a positive contribution to Jakarta's development.

"It is hoped that this increase in regional revenue will not come at the expense of the interests of ordinary people," he said, Friday (8/7).

Aziz emphasized that adjustments to local tax and levy rates must prioritize the principle of fairness. According to him, efforts to increase regional revenue should not place a burden on the public with limited economic means.

"Do not let the burden of increased taxes and levies fall on vulnerable communities," he emphasized.

He hopes that the draft regional regulation on taxes and levies will ultimately serve as a policy capable of boosting regional revenue without disregarding the interests of the community, such as underprivileged groups.
