Prioritizing Safety, Jakpro and DJKA Step Up Integration Tests for LRT Jakarta Expansion

PT Jakpro is fast-tracking its final preparations for the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai LRT Jakarta route, set for its grand inauguration on August 26, 2026. Working in lockstep with the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA), Jakpro is focused on ensuring a flawless launch for the capital's newest transit link.

The current coordination phase involves a rigorous "stress test" of the entire system—from signaling and telecommunications to electrical power and integrated system functionality.

Railways Director General, Allan Tandiono, emphasized that all testing phases are being conducted systematically and thoroughly. This ensures that every component functions seamlessly while meeting the highest standards of safety, reliability, and service quality before the public launch.

“The system testing process is comprehensive and detailed to ensure all technical and safety functions perform optimally before we open our doors to the general public,” he expressed, Thursday (8/13).

Jakpro’s Technical and Development Director, Robert Sarjaka, highlighted that the synergy between Jakpro and the DJKA has been seamless, from initial construction to the final operational preparations.

He underscored that safety remains the paramount priority in every stage of transport infrastructure development and operation.

“Working alongside the DJKA, we're executing every testing phase systematically and comprehensively to ensure the entire system is mission-ready. This process reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering a public transport service that meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and quality for the people of Jakarta,” he explained.

As of late July 2026, the Velodrome–Manggarai LRT project is nearing the finish line with a 97.99% completion rate. This progress underscores Jakarta’s commitment to modernizing its urban landscape.

Following the vision set by Governor Pramono Anung, the LRT work serves as a key pillar in elevating Jakarta's public transportation to international standards, paving the way for its status as a premier global city.

It aims to create an urban environment that is not only better connected and sustainable but also more livable, providing a seamless mobility system that fuels the city’s economic pulse and resident productivity.

“In collaboration with the DJKA, we will continue to oversee the final preparations with the utmost precision. We are committed to making sure every detail meets the highest safety standards before welcoming our first passengers,” he explained.

The LRT Jakarta is set to transform the city’s landscape with its 12.2-kilometer corridor and 11-station network. This expansion significantly widens the reach of modern rail travel from Kelapa Gading through to Manggarai.

Strategically designed for the modern commuter, the line integrates four stations—Rawamangun, Pramuka, Matraman, and Proklamasi—with Transjakarta. The crown jewel of this integration is Manggarai Station, which serves as a central hub linking the LRT with the KRL Commuter Line and the Airport Rail Link.

The efficiency is remarkable: a trip from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai will be slashed to approximately 28 minutes. This launch, scheduled for August 26, 2026, is not just about new tracks; it is about strengthening inter-regional connectivity and multimodal harmony.

"We're providing a faster, more efficient alternative to daily driving,” remarked Robert Sarjaka.

With daily traffic expected to hit 80,000 passengers, the project is a major step toward a more sustainable, less congested, and eco-friendly Jakarta.
