Commission E: Public Services Must Remain Untouched by Budget Efficiency Measures

Jakarta Legislative Council Commission E held a working meeting with the Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Agency (DPPAPP) to deliberate on the 2026 General Budget Policies and Provisional Budget Ceiling and Priorities (KUA-PPAS).

The reductions are strictly administrative

Commission E Chairman, M. Subki, emphasized that budget efficiency measures must not compromise programs that directly impact public services. He expressed his approval of DPPAPP’s strategy to focus cost-cutting on administrative overheads, such as office supplies and meeting expenses.

"Thankfully, they have clarified that the reductions are strictly administrative—targeting things like paper and catering—which do not hinder the delivery of essential services to the public," he expressed, Friday (8/14).

Aside that, his party called for stricter oversight of grant recipients, insisting that their projects must move in tandem with the city's development programs. The objective is to ensure every rupiah spent translates into a tangible impact for Jakartans.

"We must ensure that these programs are genuinely effective. It would be unacceptable for these initiatives to remain undersupported after we have funneled such significant financial resources into them," he closed.

"We can't allow these programs to fall short after pouring in such a large amount of capital," he stressed.
