Supporting passenger capacity
PT MRT Jakarta targets the completion of the Bundaran HI–Monas segment by the end of 2027 and the segment extending to Kota by the end of 2029. Based on the data obtained, significant progress is evident across all construction contract packages.
MRT Phase 2A Northbound Tunnel Excavation CompletedFor contract package CP201, construction has reached 93.90 percent, surpassing the target of 93.89 percent. At Thamrin Station, the construction team has moved into phases such as reinstating pedestrian areas around the station site, reconstructing the Transjakarta Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stop, installing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, and carrying out roofing and finishing work for entrances 5, 7, and 8.
At Monas Station, the construction team continues to finalize interior work and Entrance 2 access, as well as the reinstatement of the station box on the north side, leading up to the system acceptance test and partial acceptance test stages.
"PT MRT Jakarta targets the completion and commencement of operations for this segment by the end of 2027," said Rendy Primartantyo, Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta.
Significant progress has also been made on contract package CP202. This package, which covers the construction of tunnels and the Harmoni, Sawah Besar, and Mangga Besar stations, has reached 68.00 percent completion.
He stated that work is accelerating on the contract package, which represents a key milestone for civil construction in Indonesia, featuring a tunnel and a four-level underground station, to ensure its completion.
"As of July 2026, Tunnel Boring Machine 1 has broken through the southern side of Mangga Besar Station. This milestone marks the connection of the northbound tunnel stretching from Bundaran HI to Kota," he added.
Progress on the CP203 contract package has reached 86.85 percent, with work such as the installation of piping, cabling, wall ACP panels, plastering, and painting, alongside other architectural tasks continuing at Kota and Glodok Stations.
"PT MRT Jakarta targets completion and the commencement of operations by the end of 2029," he continued.
Beyond the civil works for tunnels and stations, contract package CP205 has also shown significant progress, reaching 52.45 percent against a target of 44.96 percent. As of July 25, track concreting in the northbound and southbound tunnels of the Bundaran HI–Thamrin segment, including the platform area at Thamrin Station, has been completed.
"The construction team is continuing the concrete pouring work towards Monas Station. Up to now, the pouring of the second track bed has reached 3,465 track meters," he explained.
Meanwhile, the CP206 rolling stock contract package, which encompasses the train sets and associated support equipment, has entered the technical design stage.
Meanwhile, the CP207 automatic fare collection contract package, which encompasses the payment and automated fare collection system, is currently in the pre-commencement stage, with the Hitachi Sumitomo Consortium serving as the project executor.
According to him, phase 2A of the North-South Line will connect Bundaran HI Bank Jakarta Station to Kota Station, spanning approximately 5.8 kilometers and comprising seven underground stations namely Thamrin, Monas, Harmoni, Sawah Besar, Mangga Besar, Glodok, and Kota.
Phase 2A is divided into two segments, Segment 1 (Bundaran HI–Harmoni), targeted for completion in 2027, and Segment 2 (Harmoni–Kota), targeted for completion in 2029.
"This phase was constructed at a cost of approximately Rp 25.3 trillion, funded through a loan resulting from cooperation between the governments of Indonesia and Japan. Meanwhile, Phase 2B which is planned to extend the line from Kota to the West Ancol Depot, is still in the feasibility study stage," he said.
He continued that phase 2A is being constructed alongside the development of the station area based on a transit-oriented development (TOD) concept that is integrated with other modes of public transportation.
"Development based on this concept involves not only the construction of Jakarta MRT station infrastructure but also the creation of an area that integrates transit functions with people, activities, buildings, and public spaces. This approach optimizes access to public transportation, thereby supporting passenger capacity," he stated.
