Transportation Agency Prepares Traffic Management Plan for Indonesia's 81st Anniversary Celebrations

The Jakarta Transportation Agency is preparing situational traffic management measures to support the series of events celebrating the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's independence on Monday, August 17, 2026.

We urge the public to adjust their travel plans

Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin said a total of 500 Transportation Agency personnel will be deployed, and traffic management measures will be implemented situationally, adjusted to the stages of each activity.

"We urge the public to adjust their travel plans and follow the directions of officers on the ground. Furthermore, we strongly recommend using public transportation when heading to the event location," he said.

Traffic management measures have been prepared for the ceremonial procession conveying the Heirloom Flag, scheduled for 7:30–9:30 AM, while the Proclamation Moment Ceremony will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.

In the afternoon, the Red and White Flag Lowering Ceremony took place from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM, followed by the procession to return the Heirloom Flag from 5:45 PM to 6:30 PM.

In connection with the event, situational traffic diversions will be implemented from 07:30 AM to 11:30 AM and from r

4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Affected road sections include Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jalan Veteran I, Jalan Veteran II, Jalan Veteran III, and the eastern side of Jalan Majapahit (north-to-south direction).

Road users traveling from Harmoni to Tugu Tani can use the route via Jalan Ir. H. Juanda–Jalan Pos–Jalan Gedung Kesenian–Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara–Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat–Jalan Taman Pejambon–Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur–Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais. Meanwhile, the journey from Harmoni to Karet can be made via Jalan Ir. H. Juanda–Jalan Suryopranoto–Jalan Balikpapan–Jalan Cideng Timur–Jalan K.H. Mas Mansyur.

To travel from Tugu Tani to Harmoni, road users can take the route via Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais–Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur–Jalan Perwira–Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat–Jalan Katedral–Jalan Ir. H. Juanda. To travel from Tugu Tani to Tanah Abang, also can take the route via Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais–Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan–Jalan Budi Kemuliaan.

Meanwhile, the route from Bundaran HI to Harmoni can be taken via Jalan M.H. Thamrin–Jalan Budi Kemuliaan–Jalan Abdul Muis–Jalan Majapahit. From Karet to Harmoni, the route is via Jalan K.H. Mas Mansyur–Jalan Cideng Barat–Jalan Balikpapan–Jalan Suryopranoto. As for the route from Tanah Abang to Tugu Tani, one can travel via Jalan Jati Baru Raya–Jalan Kebon Sirih or via Jalan Abdul Muis–Jalan Budi Kemuliaan–Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan–Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais.

Meanwhile, the "Pesta Rakyat" (People's Festival) celebrating the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's independence will take place from 8 AM to 11 PM. During the event, situational traffic diversions will be implemented on several roads surrounding the Monas area.

Road users from Harmoni to Tugu Tani can take the route via Jalan Ir. H. Juanda – Jalan Pos – Jalan Gedung Kesenian – Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara – Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat – Jalan Taman Pejambon – Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur – Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais. To travel from Harmoni to Karet, the route via Jalan Ir. H. Juanda – Jalan Suryopranoto – Jalan Balikpapan – Jalan Cideng Timur – Jalan K.H. Mas Mansyur can be taken.

To travel from Tugu Tani to Harmoni, road users can take the route via Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais – Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur – Jalan Perwira – Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat – Jalan Katedral – Jalan Ir. H. Juanda. To travel from Bundaran HI to Harmoni, also can take the route via Jalan M.H. Thamrin – Jalan Kebon Sirih – Jalan H. Fachrudin – Jalan Jati Baru Raya – Jalan Abdul Muis – Jalan Majapahit.

For the route from Jalan Agus Salim to Senen, can travel via Jalan Agus Salim–Jalan Kebon Sirih–Jalan Arief Rachman Hakim. From Karet to Harmoni, the route is via Jalan K.H. Mas Mansyur–Jalan Cideng Barat–Jalan Balikpapan–Jalan Suryopranoto. Meanwhile, the route from Tanah Abang to Tugu Tani is via Jalan Jati Baru Raya–Jalan Kebon Sirih, and the route to Harmoni is via Jalan Jati Baru Raya–Jalan Abdul Muis–Jalan Majapahit.

Furthermore, the celebration marking the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence will take place from 7 PM to 11 PM, featuring a Float Carnival. The carnival will start at Jalan Silang Merdeka Daya Barat (Monas), proceed along the eastern side of Jalan M.H. Thamrin and the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, continue along the eastern side of Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, and conclude at Jalan Galunggung–Taman Dukuh Atas Skatepark.

During the carnival, traffic management will be implemented situationally in the areas of Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan M.H. Thamrin, and Monas, as well as along several roads around Tanah Abang, Menteng, Kebon Kacang, and Dukuh Atas.

Several alternative routes have been prepared, including the route from Harmoni to Tugu Tani via Jalan Ir. H. Juanda–Jalan Pos–Jalan Gedung Kesenian–Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara–Jalan Taman Pejambon–Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur–Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais. The route from Harmoni to Kuningan can be taken via Jalan Suryopranoto–Jalan Balikpapan–Jalan Cideng Timur–Jalan K.H. Mas Mansyur–Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio.

To travel from Tugu Tani to Harmoni, road users can take the route via Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais–Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur–Jalan Perwira–Jalan Katedral–Jalan Ir. H. Juanda. Meanwhile, to travel from Menteng to Tanah Abang, can take the route via Jalan Imam Bonjol–Jalan H. Agus Salim–Jalan K.H. Wahid Hasyim–Jalan K.H. Mas Mansyur.

Travel from Kuningan or Senayan to Harmoni can be made via Jalan K.H. Mas Mansyur–Jalan Cideng Barat–Jalan Balikpapan–Jalan Suryopranoto. From Tanah Abang, the route to Tugu Tani can go via Jalan Jati Baru Raya–Jalan Kebon Sirih, while the route to Harmoni can go via Jalan Jati Baru Raya–Jalan Abdul Muis–Jalan Majapahit.
