Army, Police, and Provincial Government Hold River Cleanup Activity

On Saturday (8/15), a joint force of 1,174 personnel, comprising the military, police, and Jakarta Provincial Government ranks, joined forces with local residents to clean up the river and banks of the West Flood Canal in Pejagalan Urban Village, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. In addition to this site, the activity was also carried out at 10 other locations.

Creating a clean, beautiful, and tidy environment

Jakarta Regional Secretary, Uus Kuswanto commended the Army and the National Police for carrying out cleanup activities in the Jakarta area to mark the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's independence.

Clean-up Action Held on Tidung Island Beach

In addition to cleanup activities, the event also included tree planting at the Kalijodo Green Open Space (RTH).

"On behalf of the Governor and the Vice Governor, I extend my gratitude to the ranks of the Army and Police for carrying out this activity in Jakarta," he said.

Uus hopes that this activity will set an example for the community to consistently maintain cleanliness and care for the environment, ensuring that Jakarta remains a clean, orderly, and pleasant place.

Commander of the Jakarta Military Command (Pangdam Jaya) Lieutenant General Deddy Suryadi stated that this activity represents a tangible form of synergy among the Army, the National Police, local government, and the community in maintaining environmental cleanliness.

"Today, we are once again carrying this out simultaneously across 11 locations, with the main hub right here," he stated.

Dedy explained that the issue of waste along riverbanks cannot be resolved solely through cleanup activities. It requires public awareness to maintain the environment in a sustainable manner.

"We also urge the public to participate in creating a clean, beautiful, and tidy environment," he explained.

Jakarta Metro Police Chief Asep Edi Suheri added that this activity serves as a form of support for the government's program to create a clean and beautiful environment, in line with the directive of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. He therefore affirmed that the activity would be carried out repeatedly.

"Hopefully, this activity will provide direct benefits to the community while raising collective awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment," he hoped.
